Roaming Profiles

Charles informed everyone of GPO that can be set to remove profiles from a computer after logoff. This creates more security, but more importantly, it frees up disk space.

Charles also brought up the issue of deleting profiles off a server if it becomes corrupt (he mentioned this was a fairly common occurrence in NT 4). Since the Roaming Profiles will be located on local servers, the OU Administrator for that server will be the contact point.

Home Directories

More discussion took place on this. There are three possible solutions:

  1. One campus-wide server for students, each department can add extra space to increase the disk quota for their students
  2. Multiple servers, no fixed drive letters (first come, first serve)
  3. Multiple servers, fixed drive letters assigned to OUs

Login scripts were also discussed. Scripts can include other scripts, so this should make localized scripts possible.
